Service Rifle Match Course of Fire

(200 points per stage, 800 points total)

Stage 1: Standing Slow-Fire

20 rounds in 20 minutes, single load, no sling.
Range: 200 yards

Stage 2: Sitting Rapid-Fire

Two relays of 10 rounds in 60 seconds with reload (2 rounds and 8 rounds), begin in the standing position.
Range: 200 yards

Stage 3: Prone Rapid-Fire

Two relays of 10 rounds in 70 seconds with reload (2 rounds and 8 rounds), begin in the standing position.
Range: 300 yards

Stage 4: Prone Slow-Fire

20 rounds in 20 minutes, single load.
Range: 600 yards (!)


Required Equipment

Service Rifle class requires competitors to use one of the following:
  • M1 Garand
  • M14 or the semi-auto civilian version, the M1A
  • M16/M16A2 or the semi-auto civilian version, the AR-15

  • Your firearm must maintain the outward profile of the original as issued.

    Any centerfire rifle with iron sights can be used in the Open class (a stripper clip charger bridge is recommended for bolt-action guns).

    Bring at least 88 rounds of ammunition, as the standard practice is to allow 2 sighting shots before beginning each stage.
